The Childers brothers

Hugh was a DUSM with the Indian Territory Court

 

 March 27, 1891—Purcell Register-- Died—At the residence of his brother, S. W. Childers, in this city, on March 24, 1891 at 9:30 a. m., of consumption, Hugh Thomas Childers aged 27; deceased came to this country about 3 years ago from Texas.  Some months since, he took a trip to Colorado in the hope of benefiting his health by a sojourn in that clime, but it was in vain and he returned home to die among friends.  Since his return he has been slowly sinking until Tuesday when his sufferings ended and he passed quietly across the river into the unknown land upon the other shore.  The funeral took place on Wednesday at the new cemetery; Rev. Volney Johnson conducting the services.

 Earnest Childers Was A DUSM With The Paris, Eastern District Of Texas Force

 

February 12, 1892—Purcell Register-- Died, at Erin Springs, on Friday, Feb. 5, 1892, Earnest Pope Childers, aged 25.  Mr. C. was born in Cherokee County, Tx., and came here about 6 years since.   About a year ago the dread disease, consumption, began to prey on him.  He visited Colorado and other points in the ineffectual attempt to improve his health, which steadily failed...He returned to Erin Springs during the recent cold weather after a visit to Texas relatives...On Tuesday before his death he went to Paul’s Valley on business.  Returning he was running along behind the buggy to warm himself, when he was taken with hemorrhage.  He managed to get home, but the hemorrhage continued and pneumonia also set in.  (He)...succumbed to the attack and on Friday, at 6:30pm, he peacefully sank to rest...The remains were interred in the cemetery her on Saturday, Elder Johnson conducting the funeral services.
