COFFELT, HELD ON TWO CHARGES, HAS PERFECT ZOO OF RAZORS
MANICURE SETS AND OTHER UNUSUAL CHATTELS
May 8, 1924—County Democrat News—W. O. Coffelt, a man now over 50, who was arrested recently o a charge of stealing live sock and second degree burglary, has made bond in $3,500 and was released from the county jail Monday, where he had been held for several days.
Miller brothers, owners of 101 Ranch, near Ponca City signed his bond and it is probably they will be called upon to make additional bond for him, since he is charged with another theft.
Officers who visited the Coffelt home, not far from the city, say the man has a wonderful collection of valuables in his shack. “It is a perfect zoo,” one of them remarked. He has several fine manicure sets; dozens of razors of all makes, several find guns and a miscellaneous assortment of goods. One of his prize possessions is a large wardrobe trunk, which is well stocked with wearing apparel.
“It is my opinion,” said Frank Hazelwood, deputy sheriff, “that if people who have been missing things for some time would visit Coffelt’s shack they would find part of heir property. I have never seen anything just like it.”
Coffelt, it is said, was once convicted and sent to the penitentiary, but was pardoned. He came here sometime back, took up a residence near Sapulpa and has a large number of hogs and chickens.
“I could take his chickens and make a living out of them,” said Hazelwood. “He has a large flock off them roaming the woods”
Coffelt once worked for 101 Ranch, and when Glenn Young, his attorney, when there last week to get bond made for him it was signed without equation. Mr. Young said they want Coffelt to come back and to go work on the ranch again.
